![]() ![]() At the rear entrance, the elegant, marble-floored lobby evokes the grandeur of a classic European hotel. The 5,200-seat Dolby Live at Park MGM hosts big-name musical acts. If you're mystified by marker pucks and “come bets,” a free craps lesson is available daily at 11 a.m. You'll find plenty of $10 tables here ($5 minimums are common during off-peak hours), plus a cozy, mahogany-paneled poker room. Inside, we love Park's straightforward, rectangular casino layout, which doesn't necessitate never-ending hunts for the baccarat tables or the bathrooms. The look is decidedly less Monaco, more upscale shopping mall. Though the facade still incorporates neoclassical columns and arches, the hotel's ornate statuary and fountains have been replaced by a broad, streamlined entry plaza dotted with flagstone fountains and small trees, and flanked by new sidewalk bars/restaurants. Park MGM has modernized and mostly de-themed its Strip-front entrance, and has become the first fully smoke-free resort on the Las Vegas Strip. But if you thought this mega complex, modeled after the famed Place du Casino in Monaco, might be over the hill, think again. Both ultra-luxe properties have made high-profile opening splashes since the Park MGM (formerly the Monte Carlo Resort & Casino) was built back in ‘96.
